Intake
We do a placement test in order to establish the starting level and the specific wishes of each student. The instructor and the student then determine together what the best course of action will be.
Interim evaluation
Especially for a long-term course, it is very useful to relate the learning path that was established at the time of the intake to the actual experiences. What is going well? What could be improved on? Do the goals need to be adjusted?
Final report
At the end of each course, we create a report in which the student’s progress is objectified and clarified, using the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). In this report, recommendations are also provided with respect to consolidation and further development of the newly acquired skills.
Why Catalan?Strictly speaking, knowing Catalan is not really required, even in Catalonia.
These days you can go a long way with English, and all Catalonians also speak Spanish, of course. Still, it can be useful to have some knowledge of Catalan if you have a lot of Catalonian associates, because a little Catalan will create a mountain of goodwill.
Barnsdale Business Language Training offers a basic course in Catalan, which is different from our courses in Business Spanish in that the emphasis in the Catalan course is small talk and knowledge of Catalonian history and traditions. No one will expect you to conduct contract negotiations in Catalan, but if, during a cold buffet, you confess to your host in Catalan that you love pa amb tomàquet (Catalonian farmers’ bread with garlic, tomato and olive oil), you’ll have it made.
